About Sven Comics (www.svencomics.com):

Sven Comics art is a unique collection of stories and gags portrayed from the Nordic perspective. In 2013, two Finnish brothers, Antti and Esa Hakala, began creating this colourful world, where the stars are two blonds, herring, polar bears, wodka and ice fishing – together with numerous other characters and topics from around the world.

These 50 pages of colourfully illustrated puns introduce Sven, an international cartoon ambassador of the Arctic Humour.

Sven possesses a peculiar quality of a typical Scandinavian to interpret the surrounding world through fish, and one type in particular: herring.

The Arctic fishing town rises again on a more fertile ground. The herrings are safe, the bar is open and the future looks bright.

But the new beginning does not come without a price. A heavily pregnant Ida’s shock response when she discovers that her father, Gustav, has been leading a double-life, halts her fiancée Sven’s plans to rid the underwater predators responsible for depriving livelihoods of the local fisherfolk.

The conditions are met for yet another thrilling Nordic soap with unconventional casting techniques, tense Tuppervaara parties and seismic activity.


The Lord of Herrings (2017). Antti’s first novel is a 464-page adventure story about a fictional Arctic town of Pihtamo, its fishermen, their brave wives and the colourful world surrounding them.
